The US Secretary of State will travel to Israel to meet with his Israeli and Emirati counterparts

United States Secretary of State Antony Blinken will travel to Israel on October 13 to meet his Israeli counterpart Yair Lapid and United Arab Emirates (UAE) Foreign Minister Abdullah bin Zayed in a statement from the US Secretary of State on Saturday.

Blinken will hold a separate meeting with each of the ministers, and later they will hold a trilateral meeting, the office said.

The meetings will discuss the progress made after the signing of the “Abraham Agreement” last year, in which diplomatic relations between Israel and the United Arab Emirates were formalized.

In addition, the representatives of the three countries will give their opinion on possible “future opportunities for cooperation and bilateral issues relating to regional security and stability”, according to the secretariat’s statement.

Israel signed diplomatic relations agreements with the UAE and Bahrain in September 2020, the first of its kind since the 1994 peace accord with Jordan, making the UAE the first country in the Persian Gulf to establish relations with Israel.
