WARSAW, Aug 31 (Reuters / EP) –
US Secretary of Energy Rick Perry said on Saturday that his country will impose additional sanctions against Russia for its role in the Ukrainian war in 2014.
Perry made these statements during a visit to Warsaw, where he has met with representatives of the Polish energy industry to discuss the deepening of Polish-American cooperation, in a new scenario of tension with Russia.
Perry has also expressed interest in helping Poland “to reduce its dependence on Russian gas,” as he told a press conference after his meeting with Polish and Ukrainian representatives.
Since Trump took office in 2017, his administration has pressured to stop Russia's Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline from Europe, opposing the main sponsor of the project, Germany, and relying on Eastern EU countries such as Poland.
