United States House of Representatives foreign affairs committee chair Eliot Engel issued a subpoena this Friday against Secretary of State Mike Pompeo for his role in the “smear campaign” against the former vice president. Joe Biden and his son Hunter.
In a statement, the Committee on Foreign Affairs states that the subpoena is being carried out as part of an investigation into the “apparent” use of State Department funds to target Biden’s “political face loss”.
The subpoena requires “all” records allegedly related to Biden and the Ukrainian company Burisma, which the State Department prepared for the Senate committees with a republican majority. The deadline for the submission of these documents by Pompeo ends on August 7th.
According to the US House of Representatives, the State Department has refused Angel’s request to provide copies to the Foreign Affairs Committee, despite having handed over “thousands of pages” to the Senate. In particular, the Foreign Committee announced that the State Department has provided 16,080 pages with content on Hunter Biden and Burisma since February.
