The US embassy in Russia is raising the gay flag

June 25, 2020

The US embassy in Russia has hung the flag of the LGBTI movement on the facade, despite the Russian law, which explicitly prohibits any public promotion of homosexuality.

“LGTBI rights are human rights. Human rights are universal,” the embassy defended in a message posted on her Facebook account, in which she also hung a picture that shows the flag at the headquarters of the diplomatic mission in Moscow.

A law since 2013 prohibits homosexuality propaganda, and Russian citizens are asked to vote on a constitutional reform on July 1 that, among other things, proposes to anchor the ban on same-sex marriage in the Magna Carta.
