Washington University’s Institute of Health Assessment and Metrics (IHME) estimate Tuesday raised the forecast of US coronavirus deaths to 147,000 by August 4.
The number for the model in question represents an increase of nearly 10,000 deaths compared to another IHME estimate released this weekend.
In particular, the model now projects another 2,450 deaths in New York, 2,000 in Massachusetts and 1,700 in Pennsylvania. The new numbers also predict 3,200 more deaths in North Carolina or 1,200 more in Maryland.
However, some states, such as Georgia, where 1,500 fewer deaths are estimated, or Indiana, 1,600, are reducing their possible deaths from Covid-19.
