The United States offered a $ 5 million reward this Tuesday for information that could allow the arrest and / or conviction of Venezuelan President of the Supreme Court (TSJ) Maikel Moreno for participating in “cross-border organized crime”.
In addition to the reward set out in the United States’ Transnational Organized Crime Program, the United States has held Moreno and his wife Débora Sacha Menicucci Anzola responsible for “participating in significant corruption.”
The State Department said in a statement that Moreno, as president of the Venezuelan TSJ, “received personal money or bribes to influence the outcome of civil and criminal matters in Venezuela”.
“Moreno received the bribes in exchange for legal action, such as ordering lower judges to release certain defendants or dismiss certain cases in more than 20 lawsuits,” continued the agency, headed by US Secretary of State Mike. Pompeo.
