The United States carried out its first execution in 17 years on Tuesday, by Daniel Lewis Lee, who was convicted of murdering a Arkansas family as part of a Supremacist conspiracy.
In 1996, Lee and four other members of a supremacist organization killed arms dealer William Mueller, his wife, and their daughter, who were only 8 years old. According to prosecutors, they stole weapons and $ 50,000 in cash to support their plans to found a white nation.
Lee, who was sentenced to death in 1999, was executed on Tuesday at 8.07 am (local time) with a fatal injection at Terre Haute Federal Prison in Indiana.
“I didn’t do it,” he said before receiving the puncture. “I’ve made a lot of mistakes in my life, but I’m not a murderer. They kill an innocent man,” he said, reports from the NBC network.
