The United States has its deadliest day in more than two weeks with 1,215 deaths

A total of 1,215 coronavirus deaths were recorded in the United States this Friday. This is the highest number of deaths since August 26th. This is based on data compiled by Johns Hopkins University and the Bloomberg Agency.

A total of 46,975 new cases were registered, far from the record of 78,615 new positives on July 24th. The United States adds 6.4 million cases and 193,518 deaths. After a first wave of the relatively mild virus in the United States, the country seems to be slowly emerging from the second wave of infections.

The highest number of deaths was 2,748 on April 21. Since then, and despite the surge in infections, the number of deaths has remained relatively stable below 1,500 per day.

This Saturday, the Politico portal published that the White House is trying to change the criteria for counting cases and victims of the coronavirus.
