The UK government confirmed nearly 700 new cases of coronavirus on the last day this Monday, crossing the threshold of 300,000 infections since the pandemic started in the European country.
The UK Department of Health has detailed that 685 new cases and seven deaths have been registered in the last 24 hours, a total of 300,111 and 45,759 respectively.
He also noted that England remains the most affected region with 258,475 cases and 41,163 deaths. Scotland is behind with 18,554 cases and 2,491 deaths; Wales with 17,170 and 1,549; and Northern Ireland with 5,912 and 556 respectively.
The UK authorities confirmed later in the day that a cat in the first case of this species in the country tested positive for the strain of coronavirus that caused the pandemic, although experts have said that this does not mean that it is a disease is more about animals.
