The United Kingdom is studying the possibility of deploying drones in the Gulf in the face of tensions with Iran

MADRID, 2 Sep. –

The UK authorities are considering the possibility of deploying several drones in the Gulf in the face of growing tensions with Iran, as reported on Monday by the Sky News television network.

The Royal British Air Force (RAF) has several drones at a base near Kuwait, with which Iraq and Syria fly over. The aforementioned media outlet has indicated that such devices could be redistributed and deployed in the Gulf.

The drones in question would help maintain vigilance in the area at a time when British warships have been forced to escort tankers through the Strait of Hormuz.

On Friday, the United Kingdom called for greater support to address threats in the Gulf after Iran intercepted a British-flagged tanker in the aforementioned strait last July.
