The Ukrainian Ministry of Digital Transformation has launched a web series to educate citizens about cryptocurrencies, blockchain technology and Bitcoin (BTC).
The show premiered on Wednesday and was produced in collaboration with Binance, Hack and Crystal Blockchain as part of the “Diia.Digital Education” program the Ukrainian government.
The series consists of eight episodes of six to twelve minutes each, which explain the basics of the world of cryptocurrencies and the blockchain. The show is moderated by Andriy Onistrat, An entrepreneur and former banker interviewing guests who work in the blockchain industry.
In the first episode, available on YouTube, The concept of cryptocurrencies is explained as an unstoppable and permissionless transaction book. Highlighting the concept of Delivery verifiability, and with Onistrat ruled out that the National Bank of Ukraine could always decide to significantly increase the supply of hryvnia, the national currency of Ukraine. Ivan Paskar, Marketing Director of Binance in Ukraine, explains how Bitcoin maintains an immutable and verifiable supply.
The duo also spoke of more complex ideas, mentioning Ethereum, smart contracts, and decentralized exchanges. Although the program is aimed at newbies, Onistrat Paskar continued to ask some tougher questions, such as how to reconcile the ideals of decentralization and freedom with the identification requirements of many central exchanges.
Viewers receive a certificate of completion for viewing all episodes. The initiative is part of the Ukrainian government’s drive to achieve digital literacy in the country. Other programs offered by the Ministry are: “digital lessons for teachers” and “how to become a YouTube blogger”.
