The UK Parliamentary Committee sees “serious mistakes” in border policy in containing the virus

August 5, 2020

The House of Commons Committee on the United Kingdom’s House of Commons announced on Wednesday that “serious mistakes” had been made in the application of the border control policy to combat the coronavirus.

As MEPs said, the virus could have slowed the country’s entry if quarantine and restriction measures were imposed on those who came to the country from abroad.

With this in mind, the Commission regretted that Downing Street underestimated the threat posed by the virus and its entry from other countries in Asia and Europe, and insisted that, according to the BBC, it was a mistake that could have been avoided.

A government spokeswoman said, however, that the Commission was doing “the wrong analysis” and stressed that all decisions made since the pandemic started were “made by science”, always by taking measures “right and” to keep the population safe.
