The UK has seen an increase in the daily death toll from COVID-19 and adds another 286

UK health officials have reported an increase in coronavirus deaths after adding another 286 a day after finding the lowest daily death toll since childbirth began.

Minister of Enterprise and Industrial Development, Alok Sharma, who hosted the daily press conference from Downing Street, said that a total of 40,883 people have died since the health crisis erupted.

The number of new cases has also increased. On the last day, 1,387 new infections were confirmed – on Monday it was 1,205 – which corresponds to 289,140 infected people.

According to the British government, 102,930 COVID-19 tests of a total of around 5.8 million have been carried out in the last 24 hours.
