The UK government has confirmed around 650 cases of coronavirus in the past 24 hours this Thursday, a total of over 292,000 since the pandemic started. So far, more than 45,000 people have been killed.
The UK Department of Health has stated in a statement that 642 cases and 66 deaths have been confirmed on the last day, a provisional balance of 292,552 and 45,119 respectively. On Wednesday, there were 538 infections and 85 coronavirus deaths.
According to these data, England remains the most affected area with 251,482 infections, followed by Scotland with 18,384; Wales with 16,871; and Northern Ireland with 5,815.
Prime Minister Boris Johnson promised Wednesday that his government would launch an independent investigation into the management of the coronavirus pandemic.
