The two agents involved in Ordóñez’s death are taken to prison as a precaution

September 22, 2020

The two former Colombian police officers who were involved in the death of Javier Ordóñez on September 9, were taken to prison this Monday as a precaution, the prosecutor reported.

Ordóñez had been requested by displaced agents Harby Damián Rodríguez and Juan Camilo Lloreda during routine identification in a Bogotá neighborhood where they electrocuted him after the victim refused to cooperate.

When he got to the police station, he was beaten and, as a result of the violence he was subjected to, Ordóñez died, according to expert reports and an autopsy submitted by the prosecutor, an agency that requested the provisional detention of Rodríguez and Lloreda.

Both are being taken to a prison for uniformed men in the Facatativá municipality near Bogotá, also in the department of Cudinamarca, because the judiciary believes that house arrest “would not guarantee the constitutional goals of avoiding obstruction of justice”.
