The Taliban have taken control of part of the city of Sar-e Pul, which is the third Afghan city in three days after Zaranj and Jaujzán.
According to the Afghan news agency Tolo, the Taliban have captured much of the city and local troops and officials have now moved to a military base about three kilometers away.
The same sources indicate that the Taliban insurgents have taken control of the governor’s office, police headquarters and the building of the National Security Directorate.
The city is captured after it was reported that Sunday morning that violent clashes were taking place between the Taliban and the Afghan security forces in the central areas of three northern provinces, one of them Sar itself.
The Taliban took over Zaranj last Friday, and on Saturday the same with Jauzján in the south-east and north of the country.
