The Somali Parliament this Wednesday approved the appointment of Mohamed Hussein Roble as the country’s new Prime Minister less than a week after his appointment by President Mohamed Abdullahi Mohamed, known as “Farmajo”.
Roble, the successor to Hasan Ali Jaire, has won the support of 215 MPs, as announced by his President Mohamed Mursal. “Mohamed Hussein Roble has won the trust of Parliament and is the Prime Minister of Somalia,” he said, according to the official SONNA agency.
The new head of government thanked him for the support he had received and trusted that the parliamentarians would also support his government in due course.
“I promise I will set up a quality government that will cater to the needs of the national interest,” said Roble. “My government will work on security, elections, good government and corruption, the revision of the constitution, reconciliation and international cooperation,” he said.
