The Russian government says it is looking for and arresting the brother of opposition leader Alexei Navalni

The Russian government has declared Oleg Navalni, the brother of opponent Alexei Navalni, wanted and arrested after a court on Tuesday asked to end his probation for allegedly violating hygiene measures imposed amid the coronavirus pandemic.

Russia’s Interior Ministry has stressed that Oleg Navalni is “wanted under an article of the criminal code,” without giving further details, according to Russian agency Sputnik.

Oleg Navalni was given a one-year suspended sentence for taking part in a protest in January 2021 to demand his brother’s release, in what Russian authorities say was a call for an unauthorized protest amid a pandemic.
