The rescue ship ‘Louise Michel’, sponsored by British street artist Banksy, needs “immediate help” after rescuing more than 200 migrants at sea, its crew said on Twitter this Saturday.
“A crew of 10 is now on board a ship [de 30 metros] with 219 survivors. 33 are still in a life raft + 1 deceased in a body bag “, according to the official report of the ship.
According to the message, the ship “cannot navigate, it has no maneuver” because the migrants are overweight on its “overcrowded deck” and the life raft is deployed on one of its sides.
The ship sailing under the German flag started an emergency call on Friday at 7.40 p.m. and spent the night reaching Italian, Maltese and German rescue authorities.
After a series of “No Response” or “No Officials Available” messages, the Maltese authorities called at 11:40 pm saying “They cannot send assets, everyone is busy with different cases,” Schiff’s Twitter report said.
