The President of Kazakhstan, Kasim Jomart Tokayev, left Dariga Nazarbayeva on Saturday, until now President of the Senate and the oldest daughter of the former President Nursultan Nazarbayev.
Tokayev has not mentioned the reason for the dismissal of the senate chairmen, although he thanked the president for running the institution.
“I thank Dariga Nazarbayeva for the active and fruitful work as President of the Senate of the Republic of Kazakhstan,” said the President on his Twitter account.
Nasarbayeva has been a senator since September 2016 and became president of the upper house in March last year, a position from which she was re-elected in September.
Before being appointed President of the Senate, Nazarbayeva was President of the Committee on Foreign Affairs, Defense and Security of the Upper House and its Vice President.
