Belarusian President Aleksander Lukashenko announced on Tuesday that he had an asymptomatic coronavirus, while announcing that he had already overcome the disease.
“I apologize for my vote, I have had to speak a lot lately, but the most surprising thing is that you are facing a person who has managed to survive the coronavirus,” he told the press while visiting a military unit. according to the news portal Tuy.by.
Lukashenko said that the doctors came to this conclusion on the same Monday without noticing it because “it was an asymptomatic case”. “97 percent of the Belarusians who got the virus recovered without symptoms, and thank goodness I was one of them,” he said.
Last May, the President’s spokeswoman, Natalia Eismont, said Lukashenko hadn’t received a diagnostic test for COVID-19 because he didn’t need it, arguing that he lived outside of Minsk and had healthy lifestyle habits.
