The Portuguese President dissolves Parliament for the January 30th early elections

Portugal’s President Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa has the Assembly of the Republic this Sunday in view of the early elections on 30 approving budgets.

The decree of Rebelo de Sousa provides for both the dissolution and the calling of the elections, according to the official announcement from the presidency.

After the dissolution, the legislative power lies with the Permanent Commission of the Assembly of the Republic, composed of its President, the Vice-Presidents and the deputies proportionally appointed by all parties.

This is the eighth resolution of the Assembly since the beginning of the current Portuguese political period on 25, functioning without restrictions.
