The pandemic has already left more than three million deaths worldwide

The coronavirus pandemic has passed the three million death mark worldwide, as confirmed by Johns Hopkins University in its last balance update this Saturday.

The balance crossed the threshold this Saturday around 9:00 a.m., with 3,000,225 registered deaths and 139.9 million infections.

The pandemic lasted eight and a half months to hit one million deaths after the first confirmed death in China, and just three and a half months to top the second million on January 15. This new threshold was exceeded only three months after the previous one.

The United States remains the hardest hit country, with around 31.5 million cases and more than 566,000 deaths.

Behind are India with approximately 14.5 million cases and more than 175,000 deaths and Brazil with more than 13.8 million infections and more than 368,000 deaths.
