The coronavirus pandemic has infected more than 152,000 people in Germany and killed 5,500 people. This emerges from the report published on Saturday by the Robert Koch Institute, the German government agency responsible for the surveillance of communicable diseases.
The 2,055 new coronavirus cases are lower than the previous day (2,337), but still exceed the 2,000 positive threshold and bring the balance to 152,438 infected (for 150,383 the previous day) with 179 deaths in the last 24 hours compared to 227 on Friday.
Bavaria is the most affected country with 39,939 infected and 1,525 deaths. This is followed by North Rhine-Westphalia (31,106 positive and 1,052 dead) and Baden-Württemberg (29,792 infections and 1,153 deaths). The capital Berlin registered 5,459 cases and 112 deaths.
