The Brazilian Ministry of Health reported Tuesday that the number of coronavirus deaths in the country rose to 5,017 after a record 474 deaths in a single day.
According to this information, this means an increase of 10.4 percent compared to the previous day, while the number of confirmed cases is already 71,886. 5,385 new infections were registered on the last day, which corresponds to an increase of 8.1 percent.
The government has also said that 32,544 people have recovered from Covid-19, the disease caused by the virus, which accounts for 45 percent of confirmed cases.
In addition, there are approximately 1,156 deaths that could be caused by the virus, although these people have not been tested to confirm their spread.
The state of Sao Paulo in the south-east of the country continues to be the hardest hit with 2,049 deaths and 24,041 infections, followed by Rio de Janeiro with 738 deaths and 8,504 infected.
