The new Brazilian Minister of Education takes office and promises a “dialogue” with academics and educators

The new Brazilian Minister of Education, Milton Ribeiro, took office this Thursday and promises a “dialogue” with academics and educators while he is responsible for the portfolio.

“We want to open a great dialogue to listen to academics and educators who, like me, are saddened by what happened to education in our country after seeing our references and places in the Pisa ranking,” said Ribeiro in a ceremony in the Planalto Palace.

As the G1 portal recalls, ex-minister Abraham Weintraub, head of education, one of the ministries, led by Jair Bolsonaro, has had the greatest ideological influence on the Brazilian executive, maintaining friction with student organizations, universities, and Congress.
