The Dutch authorities confirmed on Sunday that the country has exceeded the limit of 5,000 coronavirus deaths during the day and has estimated more than 40,000 cases since the pandemic started.
The National Institute for Public Health and the Environment has detailed on its website that 69 deaths were registered on the last day, a total of 5,056 and 335 new cases. This corresponds to a balance of 40,571 infected since the beginning of the year pandemic.
The agency also said that a total of 10,995 people were hospitalized for Covid-19, the coronavirus disease. 44 new admissions have been made in the last 24 hours.
“The number of new coronavirus infections is higher than those listed here. This is because not everyone who may have been infected has been tested for the coronavirus,” he said.
Finally, he emphasized that “there is a delay between the day of hospitalization or the day of death and the date on which these figures are published”.
