The authorities evaluate that Shkreli developed an illegal scheme to obtain the monopoly of the drug Daraprim , after in 2015 it acquired the patent and will increase its price by 4 thousand percent. The cost of the pill went from $ 17.50 to $ 750 in one day.

The agencies maintain that “Pharma Bro” together with the pharmaceutical company Vyera took action so that a generic and cheaper version of the drug was not produced or will be available on the market.

According to Reuters , New York Attorney General Letitia James said in a statement that they file a lawsuit to stop Vyera's heinous conduct and make the company pay for its illegal intrigues as well as prevent Shkreli from returning to work in the pharmaceutical industry. .

Daraprim is an indispensable medication for the treatment of toxoplasmosis, a disease caused by a parasite present in contaminated food and cat feces that can be fatal for people with HIV .

This is not the first time that the former CEO of the former Turing Pharmaceuticals , today Vyera , faces justice because in 2018 he was sentenced to seven years in prison for cheating the investors of a biotechnology company he founded.
