Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobianin said on Thursday that the “real” number of coronavirus cases in the Russian capital would be “about 300,000 people”, well above the official figures from the recent pandemic record.
This estimate by the first mayor of the Russian capital contrasts with the recent official record by the Russian authorities, which speaks of more than 177,000 infected people across the country, including 92,676 cases found in Moscow.
“The fact that we have confirmed that there are so many sick people is not a disadvantage, but a big plus. Obviously, the actual number of sick people in the city is higher. This is projected to equal 2 or 2.5 per person to one hundred of all Citizens of Moscow, or about 300,000 citizens, “the mayor of the Russian capital said in statements to Rossiya 24, which were collected by the Russian news agency Tass.
The Mayor of Moscow said the goal of the capital city authorities was to count the majority of cases of people infected with coronavirus in order to isolate them and prevent the outbreak from increasing.
