This story originally appeared on Cinema Premiere

“In a galaxy far, far away, The Mandalorian and The Child (a.k.a Baby Yoda) continue their journey, confronting enemies and gathering allies in the tumultuous time after the collapse of the Galactic Empire.” But not only do they do this through the Disney Plus screens, but thanks to their great intergalactic adventures, they reach a new level of augmented reality thanks to Google that you can experience from the comfort of your own home.

Google and Disney introduce The Mandalorian AR Experience, a new Google mobile application that is available in the Play Store for Google Pixel 4a 5G and 5 devices, among others. Yes, unfortunately, this augmented reality experience has been enabled for very few mobile devices. However, Google has stated that the experience will be extended to more users from different countries very soon.

“The Mandalorian AR Experience” puts you in the shoes of a bounty hunter in the footsteps of Mando himself, Din Djarin and The Child. Explore the world of The Mandalorian and interact with characters in augmented reality and record your own scenes to share with your friends.

Google, Disney and Lucasfilm have worked together to create an augmented reality world that is accompanied by detailed models and extremely realistic animation. All of this using Google’s ARCore platform to create scenes that interact and respond to our surroundings. Thanks to the API ARCore Depth technology, 3D scenes can fit more naturally into our world.

In other words, through the camera of our smartphone we can see the lonely archer in our house walking the streets of our neighborhood / city or wherever we imagine. And yes, we can see the child too. It should be added that this augmented reality experience is based solely on the scenarios from the first season of The Mandalorian. Maybe we can dive into season two with the next updates.
