Moisés Escamilla May, leader of the Los Zetas cartel in Jalisco, Mexico, has died of breathing problems caused by Covid-19 in the federal prison center of Puente Grande in the west of the country.
Prison officials reported his death this Sunday after entering the prison hospital nearly a week ago due to breathing problems. Two days later, on May 8, the 45-year-old Escamilla died.
Escamilla, also known as “El Gordo May”, has been serving a 12-year beheading sentence for beheading 12 people in the city of Cancún, and the authorities reported that he had not had any illnesses at the time.
The last part offered by the Ministry of Health of Jalisco, referred to by the Mexican newspaper “El Universal”, showed up to 74 cases of Covid-19 infection in Puente Grande prison, most of which are asymptomatic and not needed to be hospitalized .
