The Lebanese government is meeting to address the crisis and the IMF conditions for aid delivery

July 7, 2020

The Lebanese government held a meeting on Tuesday to discuss the deep economic crisis the country is in and the conditions imposed by the International Monetary Fund (IMF) to implement a bailout plan.

The meeting, headed by Lebanese President Michel Aoun, resulted in, among other things, the appointment of the new board of directors of the state electricity company (EDL), one of the requirements of the international body to provide aid.

Ministers need to reach agreement on the six representatives selected from a list of 18 candidates who represent the country’s six major religious groups, reports the Lebanese news portal Naharnet.
