The Lebanese army disposed of more than four tons of ammonium nitrate found in the port of Beirut two days ago after the explosion on August 4, the body reported in a statement this Saturday.
“A total of 4.35 tons of ammonium nitrate found in the port of Beirut a few days ago has been eliminated,” he reported. Therefore, the substance was treated by military technical units.
The port authorities had already warned of the presence of substances that were still present after the explosion, in which nearly 200 people were killed.
Last Thursday, the Lebanese armed forces carried out the delivery of more than four tons of ammonium nitrate near the port of Beirut, which, according to the official NNA news agency, had previously been hidden in four containers next to the port.
