The Russian Presidency has assured this Monday that there is “a constant rotation of power in the country” after Russian President Vladimir Putin said hours earlier that he does not rule out applying for reelection of the President. so that he can continue to lead the country.
“This does not mean that the system does not work under the conditions of a change in performance. Performance changes. There is a constant rotation process and it would be wrong not to recognize this,” he said at a press conference on Monday. The Russian Presidency spokesman, Dimitri Peskov, answered a question about Putin’s recent statements.
The Russian president said in an interview with Rossiya 1 on Sunday that he does not rule out applying for re-election after the constitutional amendment package was approved in a referendum on July 1.
Putin based his decision on the fact that the Russian authorities would spend the next two years looking for a successor if he did not appear, if he believed that he should “work now and not find successors”.
