The joint mission of China and WHO to contain the coronavirus epidemic begins

The joint team of experts from the World Health Organization (WHO) and the Chinese Government has begun this Sunday in Beijing its mission to contain the expansion of the coronavirus epidemic in the country, as announced by the director of the agency of the UN, Dr. Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus.

“The international experts are already in Beijing and have held their first meeting with their Chinese counterparts,” he said in his Twitter account.

“We hope that this collaboration, of vital importance, will contribute to global knowledge about the outbreak of the Covid-19 epidemic,” he added, referring to the official designation of the virus.

The team consists of 12 international representatives and their 12 Chinese counterparts.

Until this Sunday, the Ministry of Health of China has confirmed 1,665 dead and 68,500 infected in the outbreak of the disease, originated in the Chinese province of Hubei, in the center of the country.
