An Israeli reconnaissance drone crashed in Lebanon without known victims this Sunday evening, the Israeli army said in a statement by the Lebanese news portal Naharnet.
According to the Israeli army, the drone was on a surveillance mission on the border between the two countries. It was emphasized that the event did not reveal any classified information.
The incident occurs amid increasing tensions on Israel’s borders with Lebanon and Syria following an Israeli airstrike in Syria that killed five Iranian-backed fighters, including a member of the Lebanese Shiite militia Hezbollah.
Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah had promised that the group would take revenge for the death of one of its fighters in the Israeli attacks on Syria.
