The Houthis claimed this Sunday that they had launched a US Army reconnaissance drone near the Yemen-Saudi Arabia border, which Washington has not yet discussed.
Houthi military spokesman Yahya Sari said the crashed plane was an RQ20 before adding that anti-aircraft defense systems had hit it in Haradh district.
He also highlighted that the demolition was recorded, while Yemeni news agency SABA, which is linked to the Houthis, released a picture of the alleged impact.
Yemen has had six years of civil war in front of the Abdo Rabbu Mansur Hadi government, backed by the international coalition, and the Houthis, which Iran supports. The armed conflict has overthrown the poorest country in the Gulf before struggling into the worst humanitarian crisis in the world.
