The Social Christian Party, a historic party of the Venezuelan right-wing, also known as the Independent Political Electoral Organization Committee (COPEI), will participate in the Venezuelan parliamentary elections scheduled for December 6th by the Democratic Alliance. This decision further reduces the support of the self-proclaimed President of Venezuela, Juan Guaidó, in his confrontation with President Nicolás Maduro.
The representative of COPEI, José Jonathan Patti, presented the necessary documents at the headquarters of the National Electoral Council (CNE). COPEI will therefore participate together with four other organizations: Democratic Action (AD, by Henry Ramos Allup), Hope for Change (EPC), Avanzada Progresista (AP, by Henri Falcón) and Movimiento Ciudadano Cambiemos (MVC, by Timoteo Zambrano).
“Today we are going to the electoral power to fulfill a phase that invites us to the electoral plan for the upcoming constitutional process of electing the new National Assembly in the period from 2021 to 2026,” said Patti after presenting the documents, registering and collecting the candidacies had proof of compliance with legal procedures.
“It was exhausting working days to achieve what we are presenting to the country today. It was months, weeks, days and hours, above all, to achieve the importance that the Venezuelan people demand so much and that the politicians think of first the country and its citizens, “he emphasized.
