The head of the fight against the pandemic in Costa Rica is resigning for a boat trip

The health monitoring director of Costa Rica, Rodrigo Marín, who is the visible face of the fight against the coronavirus pandemic in the country, has resigned after a boat trip without following the security measures recommended by the government itself.

The controversy arose over the weekend when photos were broadcast on social networks in which Marín appears on a fishing boat without a mask and without maintaining a safe distance from the crew.

Marín initially responded on Twitter, saying he needed to travel to Guanascate to attend a meeting with the local Chamber of Tourism on Friday to review “protocol issues and area reactivation.”
