June 3, 2020

The public prosecutor’s office in Braunschweig (Germany) has opened an investigation against a 43-year-old German citizen who has been convicted on several occasions, including for sexual abuse of minors, for his possible relationship with the disappearance of the last girl seen, Madeleine McCann, in a tourist complex at the 2007 Algarve in southern Portugal.

The new suspect in the context of this murder investigation is currently serving a prison sentence in Germany on a matter that has nothing to do with this disappearance. According to the Federal Criminal Police Office (BKA), he is a sex offender with several convictions, among other things for the sexual abuse of children.

This man lived regularly in the Portuguese Algarve between 1995 and 2007, the year of the disappearance of little Madeleine McCann, who was last seen at a resort in Praia da Luz.
