The German police neutralized a man this Friday who spoke to agents with a knife in hand after trying unsuccessfully to reduce him with pepper spray during an intervention in the city of Hamburg in the north of the country.
The spokeswoman for the German police, Sandra Levgruen, has reported that the agents went to the site of the events, alerted by neighbors that a man had damaged several cars with a knife and threatened several people with a gun.
The agents primarily used pepper gas, but when they verified that the suspect continued to come towards them, knife in hand, they opened fire on him and were seriously injured, despite his final death despite attempts at resuscitation the services of the emergency.
“It is not yet clear how many shots were fired,” said Levgruen, who pointed out that some witnesses said the suspect shouted “God is great” in Arabic before the police arrived.
Levgruen, who pointed out that for this reason, extremist motivations in the attack cannot be ruled out, has confirmed that besides the death of the suspect, no one was injured and some vehicles were damaged by the attacker.
