This Tuesday, August 11th, the President has Wladimir Putin announced that Russian scientists approved the World’s first vaccine against coronavirus.
CNN reports that Putin announced on state television that “this morning a vaccine against the coronavirus was registered for the first time in the world”. He added, “I know it works pretty effectively, it creates stable immunity.” Putin told members of his cabinet that one of his daughters had been vaccinated.
The international community is skeptical of the vaccine mentioned Sputnik V.citing the lack of data demonstrating its effectiveness and safety. According to the Associated Press, the World Health Organization warns that vaccines that are not properly tested “can cause harm in a number of ways, from negative health effects to creating a false sense of safety or undermining trust in vaccines.”
He New York Times reports that Russian Health Minister Mikhail Murashko announced a plan to start mass vaccination in October.
