Fintech Revolut has reported that it already has more than a million users on the Iberian Peninsula, adding in particular more than 600,000 in Spain and 500,000 in Portugal. A total of 12 million customers were reached worldwide. This was stated by the financial comparator HelpMyCash on June 4.
In the article published by HelpMyCash, they stressed that the new consumption habits of users during the so-called “alarm state” have led to an increase in the use of platforms like Revolut, and they did the following: “Over the course of 2019, 1.9 million purchases were made online with the Revolut card, while more than 1.7 million transactions were registered in the first months of 2020“”
Where are Revolut users mainly located?
According to HelpMyCash, Revolut users in Spain are mainly found in major cities such as Madrid, Barcelona, Valencia, Seville, Zaragoza, Malaga and Alicante. In Portugal, they cited cities like Lisbon, Porto, Braga and Coimbra that focus more fintech customers.
Europa Press also repeated the news, saying: “The Covid-19 pandemic has fueled the growth of e-commerce (…). By May, the Spaniards had removed Revolut cards from automatic payment terminals more than 16 million times last year. ”
