The EU’s High Representative for the Common Foreign and Security Policy, Jospe Borrell, expressed his satisfaction on Saturday with the agreement between Israel and Bahrain to restore bilateral diplomatic relations.
“The EU welcomes the establishment of diplomatic relations between Bahrain and Israel, a positive step for the region. Peace and security require a regional and integrative approach with a two-state solution based on internationally agreed parameters under international law,” stressed Borrell in a message posted on Twitter.
The formal EU communiqué “recognizes” the US intervention and stresses that it is “a positive contribution to peace and stability in the Middle East”.
Finally, Brussels recalls the declaration of August 15, 2020, in which it reaffirmed its position and defended a bilateral agreement with regional and inclusive support with the participation of the parties to the Arab-Israeli conflict.
