The European Union has welcomed the agreement between Israel and the United Arab Emirates to normalize their diplomatic relations, which will paralyze plans to annex areas in the West Bank. On this issue, the EU believes that Israel must go one step further and reject the project.
“It benefits both and is important for regional stability,” said EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs Josep Borrell in a comment on his Twitter profile.
The Israeli government has agreed not to annex the areas of the West Bank that it declares under Israeli sovereignty under an agreement brokered by the United Arab Emirates (UAE) to normalize relations with the United States Government. who described the pact as “historic”.
Borrell believes that suspending annexation of areas in the West Bank is a “positive step”, but believes Israel must now finally “abandon” these plans.
