The elected President of the Dominican Republic, Luis Abinader, who broke after the presidential election of July 5 at the age of 16 on the Dominican Liberation Party’s political dominance, confirmed the continuity orientation with the first appointments.
Among them, former Vice President Milagros Ortiz will be responsible for transparency and anti-corruption, while Lisandro Macarrulla, who coordinates the Commission for the government’s technical transition, will be the new Presidency Minister.
In addition, Roberto Fulcar becomes Minister of Education “so that he can immediately join the transition team in this area at the beginning of the school year and work with the current authorities”.
He has also appointed Roberto Álvarez as Minister for Foreign Relations, who is already involved in the inauguration of dignitaries from abroad. Already on Thursday, Abinader referred to the television host Milagros German as communication director and spokesman for the presidency.
Luis Abinader won the presidential election in the first round last Sunday as a candidate for the Modern Revolutionary Party after defeating the ruling party Gonzalo Castillo with 52.52 percent of the vote, compared with 37.46 percent from Castillo.
