The Army of the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) announced on Friday the deaths of ten suspected members of the Congo’s Cooperative Development Militia (CODECO) in a confrontation in the Ituri province (northeast) against attacks by this group in recent months.

Army spokesman for Ituri, Jules Ngongo, has said that clashes in the cities of Mandefu and Ndugi in the Djugu area broke out following an ambush against a patrol, Congolese radio station Radio Okapi reports.

It was found that the fighting resulted in the arrest of five suspects and the confiscation of weapons, ammunition and communication equipment, with no potential military losses being reported.
