United States Postal Service director Louis DeJoy agreed on Monday to testify in front of the United States House of Representatives next week.

In a potentially controversial hearing, the Democrats plan to question DeJoy about his management of the postal service ahead of the presidential election, which will take place in November.

In a statement, Congressman Carolyn Maloney defended that “the people of America want their mail, medicines and ballots to be delivered on time and correctly.”

In a clear nod to the President’s words, Donald Trump, who opposed funding the service, has insisted that the population “doesn’t want drastic changes or delays in the middle of a pandemic and just months after the elections”.
