The death toll from rain and floods in Sudan rises to over 100

September 9, 2020

The death toll from rainfall and flooding in Sudan in recent weeks has risen to over 100 while affecting more than 500,000 people.

Authorities have said that to date 102 people have died and 46 injured, while 64,000 houses have been destroyed or partially collapsed, according to Sudanese radio station Radio Dabanga.

The rains have caused several overflows in the Nile, including its passage through Khartoum North, where the water caused the collapse of many houses and prompted victims to seek refuge in local schools.
