The crypto city of Akon is getting closer with 6 billion construction contracts

American engineering firm KE International placed a $ 6 billion contract with Akon, a Senegalese-American singer and businessman, for the construction of a cryptocurrency city in Senegal.

According to an announcement made on June 4th KE International received $ 4 billion from investors for the first two construction phases of the city of Akon. Akon first announced plans to build the city in January. The company has now confirmed the deal and added further details to the project.

A city with cryptocurrencies

The first development phase of the city of Akon is expected to be completed in late 2023. At the end of this phase The complex will include a shopping center, residential buildings, hotels, a police station, a school, a waste disposal facility, a solar power plant and a hospital campus.

The second phase is expected to be completed in 2029 and will deliver a full city fully functional with Akoin cryptocurrencies.. As Cointelegraph reported in mid-March, Akoin is a cryptocurrency that was developed for entrepreneurs in developing countries like Africa.

KE International also manages the construction of the $ 2 billion Mwale Medical and Technological City in western Kenya. The project started in 2014 and is expected to be completed by the end of the year.

The complex is 85% complete and includes a 5,000-bed hospital that was opened to the public last year. Interestingly, this hospital also partnered with Akon to use the Akoin cryptocurrency for transactions.
